Accessible Rhode Island was established in 2001 to survey and recognize local businesses that are accessible to persons with disabilities. Since the inception of the program, over 1,200 venues in Rhode Island have been visited and surveyed to determine accessibility.
This site is a resource guide that lists restaurants, museums, cinemas, cultural sites, and more in Rhode Island that have been surveyed according to the guidelines for identifying accessibility, as outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.

The cobblestone entry should be carefully navigated by visitors using accessible devices. The Marble House elevator is 58 inches deep and 35 inches wide. The historic design of the elevator provided entry and exit on opposite sides on different floor; therefore a wheelchair must be turned to exit. The turning circumference is suitable for wheelchairs but will not accommodate scooters.
